Hanoi to Vientiane Destination Reviews

For reference, this is in relation to the Hanoi to Vientiane (Laos) bus. There are many issues with this. The first being visa: although it is down to the individual to check whether or not they need a visa (which we did), the company should make it clear on their ticket which border is being passed through, and that persons should only proceed if they have a visa stamp, NOT evisa. We were asked on arrival if we have a visa to which we replied yes. It was only through later clarifying (at the last minute before boarding our transport) that we had evisa that we were told the border we go through does not accept evisa, which meant we could not make the trip. If we hadn't of clarified then we would have been stuck in no mans land between Vietnam and Laos. The only reason I give this company one star is because they let us reuse our tickets at a later date at no extra cost. The other issue are the incredibly rude and aggressive drivers. I had heard horror stories about this before but never experienced it yet. We were told initially that we could sit wherever on the bus, and our tickets had no seat numbers. However, when we boarded the bus we were immediately told to go right to the back (anyone who travels frequently on these busses knows that these seats are shorter, with less space and do not lie flat), which is a common occurrence with the racist bus drivers who make foreigners sit at the back. We asked if we could change seats as we were told otherwise and weren't actually given specified seats. This resulted in the driver REMOVING OUR BAGS AND TELLING US TO GET OFF. It was only after talking to the more docile driver through the translation app (and clarifying the discrepancy between what we had been told) that they put our bags back on. The next issue (among many others) is that the seats in general are tiny with minimal space. There is no water provided and the driving is erratic. Do not use this company

DO NOT BOOK THIS BUS AS A FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLER!!! I got sexually harassed by one of the bus the drivers multiple times. After repeatedly saying no to his advances and still continued to grope me. Only after forcefully pushing him away and getting loud he would go away and laugh. This can not be the first time this happened and it's a disgrace that someone like that is still employed at this company. The trip itself was perfectly fine, but I did not feel safe on this bus for one second.

I know exactly what I booked - but I still put 2 star. I saved 3 500 000 by doing this trip and that is why I give it 2 stars. Make sure to have 50.000 for the stamp OUT OF CONUTRY and 10.000 Kep for the stamp in of the country. (But it’s good to bring extra in case they raise the “price” the day you arrive. ) The bus driver was super super rude to us over and over, and the end we just gave up trying to ask anything. If you have some money saved I recommend you spending your money on a flight ticket instead to save you a headache and a bumpy ride. But if you take this bus you will get a memory for life - and it’s not all that we are looking for ? Good luck!

I took the bus on a Saturday from Hanoi to Vientiane, according to 12goasia, it's one of the days with better busses. Bus was clean, staff friendly although they spoke almost 0 English. Comfort will be lower if you're taller than 1m80. In Laos there's a lot of road works and the ride gets bumpy. It would be nice if their was clearer communication about where we would stop and for how long. Overall quite comfortable, nothing to do with some horror stories that other travelers experienced.

I knew it would take a long time and I understood that there would be no support for entering and exiting the country, so the fee was equivalent.

This company just orders you a taxi to a bus station, where you wait 2 hrs for a different bus, which is 200k dong cheaper if you just bought the bus ticket from them... Also not sure why it says it's a 12 hr trip as the trio takes more like 24-26 hrs
